Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us most often: lead times, measurements, care, repairs and warranty. Collected from every section of the site in one place.

Measurement, installation, warranty

Go to the section
How much does a measurement cost?

Within Kamianske it is free. You are not obliged to order afterwards: if the price does not suit you, the specialist simply leaves.

Do you travel outside Kamianske?

Yes, we also work in nearby towns of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. Travel terms are agreed by phone and depend on distance and order size.

How much does installation cost?

Installation of products ordered from us is included in the order price. The specialist gives you the final total after measurement, before production begins.

How long between measurement and installation?

The order enters production the same day it is placed. Standard blinds and roller shades are usually ready within a few days; more complex products and automation take longer - the specialist gives you an exact date at the measurement.

What does the warranty cover?

One year on every service. If a mechanism fails or the installation lets you down within that time, we repair it free of charge - we built the product ourselves.

Do you repair blinds bought elsewhere?

Yes - that is most of our repair work. We manufacture blinds and shutters ourselves, so we have the components and tools regardless of who made your unit.

How much does a repair cost?

It depends on the fault. Replacing a chain or a carrier is minor; replacing a gate drive costs noticeably more. We quote after inspection, and a photo of the mechanism sent on Telegram or Viber is often enough to give you a figure in advance.

Is the repair done at the workshop or at my home?

Mostly on site in a single visit. If the fabric needs replacing or the tube needs serious work, we take the unit to the workshop on Vidrodzhennia Avenue and bring it back finished.

Is there a warranty on repairs?

Yes - one year on the work done and the parts replaced, the same as on new products.

Is it worth repairing old blinds?

Usually yes: a mechanism costs far less than a whole unit. But if the fabric is bleached and the housing is falling apart, we will say so plainly - selling you a pointless repair is not in our interest either.

Day-night blinds

Go to the section
Do day-night blinds darken a room completely?

No - some light still passes through the opaque stripes. If you need real darkness for daytime sleep or a projector, choose blackout roller blinds with a solid fabric.

How long does production take?

The order enters production the same day it is placed. The exact lead time depends on fabric availability and is confirmed right after the measurement.

Can they be fitted to a non-standard window?

We manufacture to your measurements, so non-standard width or height is fine. For sloped and skylight windows, however, the day-night mechanism does not work - pleated blinds are the answer there.

Roller blinds

Go to the section
How does mini differ from UNI?

Mini attaches to the sash, and the fabric lifts slightly away from the glass when the window is tilted. UNI has side guides that hold the fabric flat in any sash position. If you tilt your windows often, choose UNI.

Can the fabric be washed?

Most fabrics are cleaned in place - a vacuum on low power or a damp sponge without detergent. The fabric carries a dust-repellent finish that aggressive washing strips away.

What does a roller blind for a standard window cost?

The price depends on size, fabric and mounting type, starting at UAH 500 per unit. The exact figure is confirmed after the measurement, before production begins.

Horizontal blinds

Go to the section
Do horizontal blinds rattle in a draught?

If they are mounted across the whole opening and hang free, a strong draught can move them. Mounted on the sash with a bottom fixing, the blind stays pressed to the glass and does not move.

Can they be installed without drilling the frame?

Yes - for PVC windows there are clip-on brackets that need no drilling. The specialist checks your profile during the measurement and confirms whether they fit.

Wood or aluminium for a study?

Wood looks warmer and dampens sound better, but avoid it where humidity is high. Aluminium is more practical and noticeably cheaper. In a dry study, wood is the better look.

Vertical blinds

Go to the section
What if one louvre tears?

Replace just that one. Louvres detach individually, so there is no need to change the whole set - one reason offices favour vertical blinds.

Will they work in a bathroom?

Fabric ones, no - constant humidity spoils their look. For a bathroom choose plastic louvres or aluminium horizontal blinds.

How hard are they to clean?

Fabric louvres are vacuumed on low power right on the track; plastic ones wipe down with a damp cloth. Neither needs to be taken off.

Pleated blinds

Go to the section
Why do pleated blinds cost more than roller blinds?

Because of the construction: two moving profiles, tensioned cords and guides instead of a single tube. It is a more complex mechanism, and it is what allows the blind to sit at an angle.

Can a pleated blind fit a triangular window?

Yes, and it is one of the very few types that is possible on such a window at all. The shape is calculated from measurements taken on site.

How well do pleated blinds hold heat?

The concertina fabric traps a layer of air by the glass, so it is noticeably warmer near the window in winter. Fabrics with a reflective coating additionally cut summer heat in an attic room.

Roman blinds

Go to the section
Can a Roman blind be combined with curtains?

Yes, and it is a common setup: the Roman blind does the daily work while the curtains frame it decoratively. The main thing is matching the fabrics, which the specialist shows side by side at the measurement.

How is a Roman blind cleaned?

With a vacuum on low power, without removing it. Washing is not recommended for most fabrics - the battens and cords sit worse afterwards.

Does a Roman blind darken the room?

It depends on the fabric. Dense lined versions give near-complete darkness; light sheer ones merely soften the daylight. Tell the specialist which result you need and the fabric is chosen for it.

Bamboo roller blinds

Go to the section
Can bamboo roller blinds be fitted in a bathroom?

For a room with consistently high humidity, aluminium blinds or a moisture-resistant fabric are better choices. Bamboo works best in dry living spaces and sheltered terraces.

How much do they darken a room?

It depends on the weave density, but bamboo blinds are made for soft light and privacy rather than complete darkness. For a bedroom that needs darkness, choose blackout roller blinds.

Roller shutters

Go to the section
Can shutters be fitted to an existing façade?

Yes. A surface-mounted shutter is fixed over the opening and requires no changes to the window. A built-in one, hidden in the wall, is only possible during construction or a façade renovation.

What happens if the power goes out and the shutter is motorised?

Motors include a mechanical emergency release, so the shutter can be raised by hand. It is worth locating it during installation so you know where it is.

How do roller gates differ from sectional doors?

Roller gates roll into a box above the opening, so they take no ceiling space and suit low garages, carports and narrow rooms. Sectional doors run under the ceiling in separate panels and suit larger openings or higher insulation requirements better.

Does a grille provide protection if the shopfront remains visible?

Yes. A roller grille closes the opening with reinforced profiles without turning the shopfront into a blank wall. ALUTECH specifies P3-P4 burglary resistance for the Security series; the exact profile and locking method are selected for the opening and the site's risks.

Which shutter mounting should I choose - surface or built-in?

A surface-mounted box sits on the façade and keeps the maximum clear opening. A built-in box is set inside the opening and does not project from the façade. If there is a recess above the opening, a combined installation can conceal the box. The right method depends on the façade, lintel and stage of renovation.

Do you repair shutters bought elsewhere?

Yes - shutter repair is a separate service and the brand or place of purchase does not matter. Describe the problem by phone and we will tell you whether a site visit is needed.

Automatic gates

Go to the section
How much space does a sliding gate need?

You need a clear stretch along the fence roughly equal to the driveway width plus an allowance for the counterweight: for a 4 m driveway that is about 6 m along the fence. In a narrow yard, swing or sectional designs are more practical.

Which gate suits a garage with a low ceiling?

Sectional, but with a low-headroom kit: the shaft moves back and the leaf runs almost flush with the ceiling. It is settled at the measurement - we measure from the top of the opening to the ceiling and say which lift type fits.

Can a wicket door be built into the gate?

Yes, and it is a common choice: walking through a wicket beats raising the whole leaf every time. The threshold is 25 mm for openings to 3500 mm and a reinforced 65 mm to 6000 mm. For a sloped or snowy driveway there is a 160 mm delta profile.

How well do the gates hold heat?

A 40 mm panel filled with polyurethane foam is roughly equal to a 55 cm brick wall. The front and back steel sheets are not joined, so there is no cold bridge - for a heated garage or workshop that is the parameter that matters.

How many cycles will the gates take?

The mechanism is rated from 20,000 cycles - many years for a private garage. For a warehouse or service centre where the gate runs dozens of times a day we use the industrial series with a reinforced profile, built for that intensity.

Can existing gates be automated?

Often yes. The specialist checks the posts, hinges and leaf: if the structure is true and does not sag, a motor can be fitted. If the gate is already skewed, automation will not fix that - it will only speed up the wear.

Does the automation work in winter?

Yes, the motors are rated for sub-zero temperatures. The real winter issue is different - ice building up under a sliding gate's leaf, so the rail needs clearing.

Which barrier suits a residential courtyard?

For most courtyards a 50% duty model with a 4-5 metre boom is enough - the GANT Strike level. A pricier brushless motor pays off only when entries really are numerous: hundreds a day, not dozens.

What happens if the boom comes down while a car is under it?

That is what photocells are for: a beam across the driveway keeps the boom up while it is broken. This is not the place to save money - without them a barrier will eventually hit a car. We always fit them.

Does the barrier work during a power cut?

The motor has a key release - the boom is raised by hand and left open. Where cuts are frequent we fit a battery backup that keeps the barrier working while the power is off.

How long does installation take?

The installation itself usually takes a day. The preparation takes longer: a barrier needs a foundation and a cable run, and if neither exists yet that adds work. Our specialist assesses this at the measurement.

Can the barrier be opened from a phone?

Yes, via a GSM module: the barrier opens on a call from an approved number. For residential buildings that avoids handing out and losing remotes - the list is edited centrally.

What is the difference between an elbow and a bucket awning?

An elbow awning extends forward on arms and shades an area - a terrace, seating, a wide balcony. A bucket awning projects as a small canopy over a single opening: a window, a door, a shopfront. If you need to sit in the shade, take an elbow awning; if you need to cover a window and dress the façade, take a bucket one.

What is the largest terrace an awning can cover?

The largest model, the Giant, covers up to 12 × 6 m, but mounts on a wall only and runs on a motor only. The Standard reaches 12 × 4 m and the Basis 5 × 2.5 m. If the projection has to exceed the awning's width, that is the Standard-Cross with its cross arms.

Can the awning carry our business name?

Yes, the fabric can be printed to your branding. Over a café or shop entrance the awning then works as shade and signage at once, which often costs less than a separate sign of the same size.

Is the tilt angle adjustable?

Yes, and this is what sets an awning apart from a fixed canopy. Depending on the model the tilt ranges roughly from 0 to 80°: in the morning and evening the fabric is dropped lower because the sun comes in from the side, and raised during the day.

What does an awning cost?

There is no fixed price: it depends on projection, width, fabric and control type. Awnings are quoted individually after a measurement, and the measurement is free.

Will an awning stand up to rain?

A brief shower, yes - the fabric is water-repellent. But leaving it extended in heavy rain or wet snow is a bad idea: water pools in the fabric and loads the arms.

Where can it be mounted?

On a wall or façade, provided the base can carry the load - brick, concrete, or solid aerated block with proper anchors. It cannot be hung on thin cladding or insulation without embedded fixings. The specialist assesses the base during the measurement.

Sectional garage doors

Go to the section
Which garage door suits a low ceiling?

A sectional door with a low-headroom kit: the shaft moves back and the leaf runs close to the ceiling. At the survey we check the headroom, garage depth and ceiling obstructions.

Can a wicket door be built into a garage door?

Yes. A 25 mm threshold is available for leaves up to 3500 mm wide and a reinforced 65 mm threshold up to 6000 mm. Availability and configuration depend on the measured opening.

How well do sectional garage doors retain heat?

The leaf uses a 40 mm polyurethane-filled sandwich panel. Its front and rear steel skins are not joined, so there is no continuous cold bridge through the panel.

How many opening cycles is the mechanism rated for?

Extension-spring and torsion mechanisms are rated from 20,000 cycles. If the door will operate dozens of times a day, we specify the required duty separately.

What happens to an automatic garage door during a power cut?

The motor has a manual release. Once disengaged, the balanced leaf can be lifted by hand; we demonstrate the procedure after installation.

Cantilever sliding gates

Go to the section
How much space does a sliding gate need?

You need clear fence line roughly equal to the driveway width plus an allowance for the counterweight. A 4 m entrance needs about 6 m, though the exact length depends on the leaf design.

Can existing sliding gates be automated?

Often yes. We check the frame, posts, rollers and manual movement. If the gate is skewed or hard to move, the mechanical problem must be repaired first.

How is a sliding-gate motor selected?

We consider leaf weight and width, free manual movement and openings per day. The motor is sized with a margin so it does not operate continuously at its limit.

Does the automation work in winter?

Yes, the motors are rated for sub-zero temperatures. Keep the leaf's path clear of snow and ice so the automation does not have to force through a mechanical obstruction.

What if there is not enough room along the fence?

A cantilever gate will not fit. For a driveway, consider swing gates; for a garage opening, use a sectional door that lifts under the ceiling.
