A pleated blind is a concertina fabric held between two profiles. The key difference from everything else: it does not depend on gravity. It can sit at any angle, even horizontally under a ceiling, without sagging.
That is why pleated blinds go on skylights. A roller blind on sloped glass simply hangs away from the frame, while a pleated one runs in guides and stays pressed against it.
The second advantage is that both profiles move. You can lower the top and leave the bottom open, or close the lower half against passers-by while keeping the upper half for light.

Frequently asked questions
Why do pleated blinds cost more than roller blinds?
Because of the construction: two moving profiles, tensioned cords and guides instead of a single tube. It is a more complex mechanism, and it is what allows the blind to sit at an angle.
Can a pleated blind fit a triangular window?
Yes, and it is one of the very few types that is possible on such a window at all. The shape is calculated from measurements taken on site.
How well do pleated blinds hold heat?
The concertina fabric traps a layer of air by the glass, so it is noticeably warmer near the window in winter. Fabrics with a reflective coating additionally cut summer heat in an attic room.
