An awning is the only item on our list that works outdoors and shades a space rather than a window. The fabric extends on folding arms and rolls back into a cassette when not needed.
There are two types. Elbow awnings extend forward on folding arms and cover an area - a terrace, outdoor seating, a wide balcony. Bucket awnings project as a small canopy over a single opening: a window, an entrance door, a shopfront.
Within each type the models differ in size and mounting. The Basis covers up to 5 × 2.5 m without a load-bearing beam, for a balcony. The Standard reaches 12 × 4 m on a beam. The Standard-Cross uses cross arms, so its projection can exceed its width. The Giant covers up to 12 × 6 m, but mounts on a wall only and runs on a motor only.
The fabric is Sattler Group acrylic (Austria) with a special coating: it holds off ultraviolet and does not soak through in moderate rain. It can be printed to your branding when the awning sits over an entrance and doubles as a sign.
Here its main use is terraces of private houses and outdoor seating at cafés. The second scenario is a top-floor balcony on the south side, unbearable in summer without shade.
One thing to keep in mind: an awning is designed for sun, not wind. In strong wind it must be retracted, and motorised models can take a sensor that does this automatically.
Why this solution
- Shades a space, not just a window
- Sizes up to 12 × 6 m - enough for a whole terrace or seating area
- Sattler acrylic with a special coating: UV and moderate rain
- The tilt angle adjusts, so the fabric can be angled into the sun
- Rolls back into its cassette when shade is not needed
- Keeps the terrace cooler in the heat
- The fabric can be printed to your branding - the awning doubles as a sign
- With a motor and wind sensor it retracts on its own

questions
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between an elbow and a bucket awning?
An elbow awning extends forward on arms and shades an area - a terrace, seating, a wide balcony. A bucket awning projects as a small canopy over a single opening: a window, a door, a shopfront. If you need to sit in the shade, take an elbow awning; if you need to cover a window and dress the façade, take a bucket one.
What is the largest terrace an awning can cover?
The largest model, the Giant, covers up to 12 × 6 m, but mounts on a wall only and runs on a motor only. The Standard reaches 12 × 4 m and the Basis 5 × 2.5 m. If the projection has to exceed the awning's width, that is the Standard-Cross with its cross arms.
Can the awning carry our business name?
Yes, the fabric can be printed to your branding. Over a café or shop entrance the awning then works as shade and signage at once, which often costs less than a separate sign of the same size.
Is the tilt angle adjustable?
Yes, and this is what sets an awning apart from a fixed canopy. Depending on the model the tilt ranges roughly from 0 to 80°: in the morning and evening the fabric is dropped lower because the sun comes in from the side, and raised during the day.
What does an awning cost?
There is no fixed price: it depends on projection, width, fabric and control type. Awnings are quoted individually after a measurement, and the measurement is free.
Will an awning stand up to rain?
A brief shower, yes - the fabric is water-repellent. But leaving it extended in heavy rain or wet snow is a bad idea: water pools in the fabric and loads the arms.
Where can it be mounted?
On a wall or façade, provided the base can carry the load - brick, concrete, or solid aerated block with proper anchors. It cannot be hung on thin cladding or insulation without embedded fixings. The specialist assesses the base during the measurement.
